Medication has been so important for so many of us, especially in keeping our mental health in check. For some of us, being on a pill can help us better regulate our moods and feelings. But everyone's mileage with them may vary. There are so many types of medication that everyone should be able to find their best fit alongside their doctor, but some people are still left feeling numb or emotionless.
A woman named Taylor found her own method to deal with her personal demons — psilocybin, otherwise known as psychedelic mushrooms.
It all started because of a large amount of childhood trauma. "Mine started from childhood, where there was sexual abuse as well as emotional and verbal abuse," she admitted on The Doctors on CBS.
Taylor began macrodosing, which means that she's taking enough psilocybin to, in a way, change her entire outlook on life. Sometimes, it can help see the world from a different perspective. It's been known to affect not only mood but productivity and creativity as well.
That said, even though Taylor says she's no longer on prescription drugs, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the right path for you. All changes in your wellness routine should be approved by your doctor before going forward, since everyone's different.
It's interesting to know that these materials serve a larger purpose outside of recreational usage. After years of being told these things were bad, it's possible they can be a lifesaver for people like Taylor, who has legitimately tried other options to help her cope with what happened in her past.
