Jeff and Cambria Hauck battled infertility before they eventually conceived two sets of twins, 3-year-old Vera and Ayva and 11-month-old Diseal and Luka. The pair wanted to bring one more baby into their lives, but the complications that Cambria suffered after the birth of their youngest twins were a barrier.
Then Jeff's mom, Nancy Hauck, offered to carry a baby for them.
Cambria underwent a hysterectomy following the birth of the pair's 11-month-old babies. Nancy told People, "I just suddenly had a feeling a few months after that I should offer to do it."
She continued, "I told my son, and he teared up and was shocked — I hadn't even told my husband at that point. But he was really supportive."
Nancy's son Jeff explained, "I felt grateful to have such a selfless and loving mom that was willing to make that kind of sacrifice for my family."
He continued, "Having experienced over four years of infertility treatments, I knew how complicated the process can be and doubted that it was possible for her to carry a baby for us, but I was very moved that she would even offer."
