World’s First “Sky Pool” Design Unveiled In London For Luxury Residential Building

Designers in London have just unveiled a contender for the most terrifying conceivable display of luxury: a swimming pool in the sky.

The pool is slated to be 90-feet long, and suspended 10 stories above ground. The swimming pool will act as a quasi-bridge between two luxury residential buildings at London's the Embassy Gardens. It would function as the world's first sky pool and would also boast a spa, bar, and views of the Houses of Parliament.

"The experience of the pool will be truly unique, it will feel like floating through the air in central London," Sean Mulryan, CEO of the Ballymore Group, said in a statement.

As Business Insider writes, the pool is the tangible embodiment of a long-established display of prodigal excess: "Units in Embassy Gardens start at $944,000. That’s the price basement — nearly a million bucks. There is nothing wrong with residents choosing to live in million-dollar condos or paying for luxury amenities. Yet there is a risk that comes with giving profligate wealth physical form and insisting on its transparency."

But for those with an extra million to drop on on one of the Embassy Gardens suites, this pool certainly offers something you won't find elsewhere.
