Mystery Woman Identified After Her 1947 Yearbook Photo Was Found In A Popsicle Box

While unpacking groceries from Walmart, Jess Fernandez and her mother found a yearbook photo stuck to the bottom of a Pop-Ice box. Stunned, Fernandez shared the photo on her Facebook page along with a plea to find out information about the woman in the photo.

“We have no idea who she is or where she came from. If she's yours, please come get her,” Fernandez wrote. “This is tripping me out.”

With the power of social media (after all, it previously helped reunite a woman with a box of precious photographs), the woman behind the mystery photo was identified. Her name is Lillian Uchiyama and she graduated from Kaimuki High School in Honolulu, HI, in 1947.

Shortly after, Uchiyama’s daughter, Jan Shishido, came forward and explained what makes this situation even more unbelievable.

"She passed away in 2013, so it's just about three years," Shishido told Hawaii’s KHON2 about her Air Force mom. "That’s the part that’s so heart-wrenching because in about a week is when her passing anniversary is. And so I’ve been thinking about her a lot, and there is her picture on the television."

Yet, while the mystery woman has been found, the reason why it was in that box is still baffling to everyone.
