When Mirna McPhee's service dog Midas noticed that something was wrong with his owner, he did something that he was never trained to do — and kept her alive for a full two hours before someone came to help. Incredible.
Mirna has muscular dystrophy, and needs a machine to help her breathe. When the electricity was cut in her apartment, Mirna's machine only had enough battery power for twenty minutes. When Midas noticed that Mirna was struggling to breathe, he climbed on on top of her, pushing down on her diaphragm, allowing her to inhale air. Then he would run to the door and bark for help. According to reports, Midas did this for two hours until someone came to his aid.
Mirna, who is a mother, would not be here today if it were not for Midas doing something he wasn't even trained to do. The sixth sense that dogs have is sometimes so amazing, it's hard to believe!
