Soldier Reunited With Miracle Dog After Terrible Car Crash

During the 2010 holiday season, two cars collided in a horrible crash. Inside one of the vehicles was Brad and Jessika, a couple who were headed to their home in Alexandria, VA. Their small West Highland terrier dog named Wesley was also in the car.

Brad and Jessika were rushed to the Hospital. Brad, an Iraq war veteran, was seriously injured with broken ribs and a collapsed lung. But instead of worrying about himself, Brad could only think of his dog who had jumped out of the car and fled the scene of the accident. He and Jessika assumed their dog was dead.

Nurse Angie was working that weekend and had to miss a holiday party at her sister's house. Her 18-year-old son Mikey, however, could go. On his way to his aunt's house, Mikey made a shocking discovery on the toll road — he nearly hit a small white dog. Mikey stopped the car and opened the door, knowing the dog would either get hit by a car or die in the freezing temperatures. The dog with "Wesley" on his tags immediately jumped right into his vehicle "like he knew me or something."

Mikey took Wesley with him to the family party, but knew he couldn't keep him more than a few days. In the meantime, he and his family took care of Wesley and tried calling the numbers on Wesley's tags, but no one answered.

The next day, Angie went back to work at the hospital and met a patient named Brad, and Jessika at his bedside. The couple told Angie about the accident, and how their dog was missing. "At one point … something just clicked,” the nurse said. "Did you have a little white dog? His name is Wesley?" Brad and Jessika started to cry. "I said, no your dog's fine. He was at my house last night," Angie told them. "He's had a bath. He's in good shape and in good hands." Wesley was soon reunited with his parents.

Rewind back to when Brad was recovering from his deployment. Wesley became his therapeutic companion dog. Now, for a second time, Wesley helped Brad recover thanks to the kindness of strangers and what can only be described as fate.

“It's just a miracle," Angie said. "Someone was looking out for all of us and put us in the right place at the right time."
