29-Year-Old Woman Poses As A High School Student And Gets Away With It For 4 Whole Days

There are a lot of different types of "situations" that have happened over the years in high schools. High schools seem to be the place where all the craziness tends to happen. I thought I'd heard it all, until this story.

ABC News shared a story about a 29-year-old woman who felt the need to pose as a high school student at a school in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The odd incident was brought to the public's attention at a school board meeting.

This woman, who is identified as Hyejeong Shin, allegedly roamed the halls of New Brunswick High School for four days before she was caught by staff members. ABC News interviewed a student who said, “Last week supposedly the administrators let in a 29-year-old Korean lady, uh and so basically everybody was just like scared.”

Police gave a statement that Shin was charged with “providing a false government document with the intent to verify one’s identity or age.” The school district informed the public that Shin was barred from district property and the appropriate authorities were called.

If my child went to this school, I feel as though I would be a little confused as to why it took the school so long to figure out that a 29-year-old woman was actively roaming the halls.

Even though there weren’t any casualties and nobody was harmed, in a different type of situation that might not have been the case. If the administrators at this school so easily let someone who clearly does not belong in a high school enroll as a student, who knows how quickly other outsiders could possibly get in?

I feel for not only the parents in this situation but also the kids who attend this school. When you go to school, you expect to be safe and to be able to attend class without wondering who your classmates are and if they are truly your classmates. This is a situation that was not handled correctly, nor was it handled quickly enough.
