There are wild animals and then there are wild people — and sometimes when these two worlds collide, catastrophes occur.
Case in point, take a poor mother goose who came across a truly savage individual who lit her nest of eggs on fire.
Yet, sometimes a kind hearted individual — or two — swoop in and save the day. They give that feral animal human love and then release it back into the great outdoors.
Recently we learned of a tragic case that involved a beloved American animal, that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
It all started suddenly one afternoon, in Tofino, British Columbia when residents heard a loud boom that seemed to come from nowhere. It sounded like a gunshot and many locals ran from their homes to see what had happened just in time to witnesses a truck skid away from the scene of the crime. When some locals went to investigate, they realized what had been shot —a terrified bald eagle on the verge of life…

The bald eagle was shot clear through its beak, resulting in the poor animal missing a significant part of it. Horrified, a few local residents rushed the injured eagle to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Center, in which some veterinarians recommended that the majestic bird be put down.
That is when one resourceful dentist, Dr. Brian Andrews, offered to help. He took a mold of the bird's beak and then created a hard wax model to fill in the gap that was missing.
It was a risky move, but once the mold was complete, the prosthetic beak (that was even tinted yellow) was applied and it worked! Now, the bald eagle is back to normal, all thanks to the quick thinking of a few passionate animal lovers.
