Sometimes it takes a terrible tragedy to bring out the good in other people. A horrifying act of animal cruelty stunned a community, but also got them to rally together to do something wonderful.
When a man broke into a high school housing animals for the organization Future Farmers of America and set fire to a 5-month-old calf it was a true act of terror. By the grace of God, the calf survived, but the story made headline news in the community of Paso Robles, California for a very disturbing reason. The calf's teenage owner wanted him to survive, so he could sell him for his meat at auction.
The calf, known as Panda for his white and black skin, sparked an outrage in the community and animal advocacy and rescue organization, Animal Place, received multiple phone calls to save the animal. For $10,000, that's exactly what they did. Now, Panda is free to live out his natural life!!
