This weekend had some attention for the younger generation of British royals. Fresh off the newest addition to the royal family, the young royals are out working hard about the causes they care about.
William and Kate have been hard at work in the UK after returning from the summer holidays. They were caught out for lunch with their kids, enjoying a picnic-style pub lunch. Some have questioned whether that was a genuine moment caught by the press or a setup.
Why a setup? It might have something to do with Harry and Meghan, who were drawing attention in New York City in their first set of public appearances since welcoming their second child, Lilibet.
Prince William and his family appeared to be enjoying a nice lunch out. The Cambridges even brought along their black spaniel for a garden lunch in Norfolk.
"It was amazing to see how down-to-earth the family were," an onlooker told The Sun.
"It would have been easy to miss them — and just assume they were any other family. They were laughing and chatting and clearly enjoying each other's company."
"They were eating outside, I suppose because it was easier for the children," the observer continued.
"There was no security around, just them chilling like any other family. Wills had a burger and chips."
"They had their pet dog, a spaniel with them, and they were all laughing. There was one particularly touching moment where one of the children got upset because their food was too hot," the source continued.
"William was so fast to reassure them and sort them out. It was fantastic to see."
Some couldn't help but question the timing of the uncharacteristically public moment from the family. This was especially suspicious given the timing, as Harry and Meghan were in the midst of their first weekend of public events since taking time off around the birth of Lilibet Diana in June.
Harry and Meghan arrived in New York on September 23, where they met with Governor Kathy Hochul and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio at One World Trade Center. They visited the 9/11 memorial just days after the 20th anniversary of the attacks.
From there, the couple met with met with UN Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield to discuss issues related to the global health crisis, racial justice, and mental health. They then went to the World Health Organization's offices to meet with a panel of world leaders, experts, and activists, including Chelsea Clinton.
The following day, the two visited an elementary school in Harlem before dining in one of the neighborhood's classic restaurants. Later that day, they attended the Global Citizen Live event, where they promoted vaccine equity.
Many are curious what, if any, occasion would bring Harry and Meghan back to the UK. There's a lot to celebrate in the coming year, not to mention introducing Lilibet Diana to the other half of her family. With a health crisis that continues on, plus the family drama, it's hard to call what will happen next.
