Back in 2007 Matthew Johnson was staring out at the sailboats softly swaying near the horizon line of Lake Michigan. A man of many interests and hobbies, ranging from rally cars to wristwatches, Matthew gazed at the romantic vision and softly comment to his wife Jessica that he'd "like to try that someday."
The couple was living the dream
They decided that instead of buying a new piece of property they would get a small sailboat to spend their summers on. But what started as a pastime quickly turned to an addiction, they agreed that this was the only lifestyle for them and they sold their house, cars, and quit their jobs. They took to the ocean and couldn't have been happier.
But midway through their journey, they decided they needed to bring along a new member of the family. They found and adopted a cat named Georgie, who might just be the best sailor of the whole crew!

In 2004 Matthew and Jessica finally said "I do!"

While they loved their families and their lives were going great, there was just "something" missing.

So they sold their cars, quit their jobs, and started their new lives at sea.

The small spaces took some getting used to, but eventually they got more comfortable in their new floating home.

While they were loving every minute traveling the majestic ocean, they suddenly realized they needed another crew member.

That's when they encountered Georgie. They instantly fell in love with the beautiful feline and adopted him as their own.

His adventurous attitude and happy demeanor made an amazing addition to the crew, he even enjoys swimming from time to time!

George loves traveling the ocean with his two humans.

But whenever they take their ship into port, he makes sure to take his humans out for a quick walk on the beach.

Because he's so low to the ground, everyone agrees that Georgie has the best "sea legs" of the whole crew!

Not to mention he's incredibly photogenic!

Georgie is a great addition to the team, even if he does make it a bit hard for his humans to use the computer...

A fluffy friend to snuggle with on those days when the ocean is a bit rough, this cat makes a great first mate!

While they're unsure of how many years they plan to spend out on the sea, this family is certainly happy, healthy, and incredibly fulfilled.
