Inside Edition shared a story about a woman who completed her dad’s far-fetched bucket list in five years. Her dad, Mick Carney, died at the age of 54 after he was unfortunately killed by a distracted driver in 2003.
Laura Carney and her brother found their dad’s bucket list 13 years after he died. In an interview with Inside Edition, Laura said, “When I first started this project at that time I thought the main reason I needed to do this was for the purpose of awareness, that I was bringing awareness to how my father died. I didn’t realize that I actually had something inside of me that needed to heal.”
When Laura and her brother found their dad’s list, there were already several of the 60 items already checked off. Her dad wanted to complete his bucket list by the year 2020, so Laura made it her mission to complete his list by that time.
The bucket list took Laura all over the world, but the last task she finished she was able to complete in her own home, which was to have five songs recorded. Laura’s dad was a singer, so this task meant a lot to her.
Leigh Scheps from Inside Edition asked Laura what the scariest item on the list was. Laura replied, “Drive a Corvette for sure. I had a panic attack. It ended up being about 20 minutes from where he died at that intersection, and I was very worried I was gonna somehow drive through it.”

Leigh then asked Laura what her favorite item on the bucket list was, and it was growing a watermelon! Some of the other items listed that Laura completed were skydiving, surfing, swimming across a river, going sailing by herself, talking with the president, and even corresponding with the pope.
Laura tells Inside Edition that taking on all of these tasks has required her to face a lot of her fears, but once she completed them, she realized her fears were based on misconceptions. Laura also wrote a book, My Father’s List, which documents her journey.
