He Built A Charming, Rugged Tiny Houseboat With An Amazing Interior

I have recently become very interested in tiny homes. Whether they are built to be lived in on land or on water, they exemplify the spirit of creativity and craftsmanship.

I particularly loved this special converted one-room schoolhouse — not only because it stood serenely in the mountains, but also because its interior is absolutely stunning. I love tiny homes, converted or not, that look unique on the inside. Usually, that means the story behind the home is very intriguing.

That's why I fell in love with the delightful boat that designer Roy Schreyer built. On the outside, it is pretty unassuming. After I saw pictures of the boat's interior, however, I was stunned. I couldn't believe Schreyer built it all himself, and how detailed the design plan for the construction was.

I would love to embark on a houseboat adventure one day. What did you think of this tiny houseboat design? Let us know in the comments, and please SHARE!

Roy Schreyer, of Wasaga Beach in Ontario, Canada, is a highly skilled cabinetmaker, woodworker, and designer. Not long ago, he crafted a boat, which was named Dianne's Rose.

On the outside, it seemed like a simple towable tiny boat.

Like regular river boats, it can be docked onto piers, and can make its way through swamps and tricky terrain.

But there's an amazing floor plan on the inside of the boat. There's the cockpit area, which also doubles as the living room and has couches...

...that can be folded out into a master bed big enough for four people.

In addition, there is a small cooking area in the back, and it comes complete with a stovetop and a sink.

There is also an enclosed bathroom area with a composting toilet.

The boat doesn't necessarily have to be out on the water to create an enjoyable experience. It can be used as a perfectly functional travel trailer.

Schreyer has built numerous other boats, including an electrically powered dingy named Thorn; Petals, a rowboat that he built over 15 years ago with his son; and Whisper, a racing sailboat that he modified into a beach cruiser.

Schreyer has the design plans on his website, allowing those who are enthusiastic about houseboats to give their hand a try at building their own.

There's nothing better than knowing you've built and created something beautiful and functional. And this family knows it best.
