Do you love lumberjacks? The bearded, woodsy, plaid-sporting figure has certainly been popular lately, both with men and women.
But one artisan baker, Elizabeth Marek, loved lumberjacks so much that she decided to celebrate them using her art form: cake!
And there's nothing that pleases us more than a clever cake. It's two great things — art and deliciousness — combined into one! And while some of them get a little too real— like this creepy brain cake — some of them are so charmingly clever that we can't help but fall in love.
Elizabeth, who runs a site called Sugar Geek Show, created this lumberjack cake using her considerable skills as a baker. The outside looks like a log section, complete with tree rings and bark, and inside, it's plaid. That's right — a plaid cake!
And there's even a gravity-defying and totally edible axe balanced on top. It's perfect!
Check out Elizabeth's cake below, and daydream about a lumberjack (or at least a lumberjack cake) of your own!

From the outside, the cake looks like a realistic log with an axe stuck in it. But everything is completely edible!
Elizabeth created this lifelike bark completely by hand, without the help of any molds. The cake also features some airbrushed details, like the tree rings, and, of course, the sculpted, precariously balanced axe.
And inside? The moist and delicious cake is totally plaid!
To create the plaid effect, Elizabeth had to do a lot of planning, measuring, and calculating, and went through a lot of food coloring.
Elizabeth says part of her inspiration comes from her husband, who we can see also likes the lumberjack look.
And the best part is that you, too, can make your own lumberjack cake, thanks to Elizabeth's site Sugar Geek Show, which she describes as "Netflix for cake decorators."
