The recovery room isn't necessarily the place to erupt into laughter, but sometimes that's exactly what happens.
When folks wake up from anesthesia, they're obviously not in their right state of mind. We've all seen the videos of kids after getting their wisdom teeth out, with mom or dad laughing from behind the camera.
