Harmony Montgomery’s Dad’s Girlfriend Found Dead In Hotel Room As Investigation Continues

The girlfriend of the father of missing New Hampshire 7-year-old Harmony Montgomery has been found dead.

Kelsey Small was dating Harmony's father, Adam Montgomery, at the time that police found him and questioned him in Harmony's disappearance. Kelsey didn't face any charges related to the case, which has resulted in charges for Adam and his estranged wife Kayla Montgomery, who was Harmony's stepmother.

Kelsey spoke with police and cooperated in their investigation into Harmony's whereabouts. Adam and Kelsey were living in a car on December 31, 2021, when police inquired about the little girl. Harmony has not been seen by her mother or other family members since 2019.

Court documents obtained by WMUR indicate that Kelsey told police she and Adam had been romantically involved for about a year. She also told detectives she was aware that Adam had four different children with two different women. She claimed to have never heard of Harmony, however, and had no idea where the child might be.

Police never believed that Kelsey was involved in Harmony's disappearance or in covering anything up for Adam intentionally. Still, they hoped they would be able to find out some information relevant to the investigation from one of the people Adam had most recently spent the majority of his time with. Now that door is closed.

Police records indicate that Kelsey was arrested outside a sober home where she was living and charged with DUI, second offense in early March 2022. She was released on personal recognizance bail and due in court in early April. She was found dead in a hotel room on March 13, five days after her release.

Kelsey's cousin released a statement about her death and her connection to the case.

"She was so much more than that, and I hate that one of her last connections here on Earth was to him," the statement said.

As far as the investigation into Harmony's disappearance, police told People in late January 2022 that they have determined Harmony appeared to be living with her dad Adam, stepmom Kayla, and the couple's two other children when they were evicted from a Manchester home on November 27, 2019. She was seen with the rest of the family in the days that followed. Different witness accounts indicate that somewhere between December 6 and 10, 2019, Harmony stopped appearing with the family.

"This information leads police to believe that it was sometime during this window of approximately November 28 to December 10, 2019, that Harmony Montgomery disappeared," a statement from New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella noted.

Harmony Montgomery was last known to be 4 feet tall, weighing about 50 pounds. She is legally blind in her right eye and wears glasses. Anyone with information is urged to call the Manchester Police Department at 603-668-8711.
