Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make it to the Queen's big party in June 2022 after all — and they are bringing both of their children with them.
A spokesperson for the couple announced, "Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honored to attend The Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children."
However, part of the day will look different than it has in year's past. Queen Elizabeth has announced that only working members of the royal family will appear on the balcony at Buckingham Palace, meaning Harry, Meghan, and Prince Andrew are out.
This is the first time that the pair's youngest child, Lili, will visit the United Kingdom. Lili is named after Queen Elizabeth, whose nickname is Lilibet. Many anticipate that Lili will be in the UK during her first birthday on June 4, 2022.
Buckingham Palace explained why Harry and Meghan won't be on the balcony, noting, "After careful consideration, the Queen has decided that this year's traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd of June will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen."
As such, this will limit balcony appearanes to Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and Camilla, Prince William and Kate, Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie. It is assumed that Prince William's children will be on the balcony as well as those of Edward and Sophie.
The Platinum Jubilee will celebrate the Queen's 70th year on the throne. The event begins on June 2, 2022, and will conclude on June 5, 2022, with a parade through the streets of London.
