Jamie Pugh admits that at 38-years-old, things didn't go according to his lifelong plan. However, the driver by day, pizza delivery man by night did do one thing right – he never gave up on his boyhood dream.
After seeing Les Miserables in London's West End as a boy, Pugh dreamed of singing like the stars in the show. Nearly 30 years later, he finally decided it was time to take a risk and try to overcome his fear of performing in public. When he took to the Britain's Got Talent stage, the judges were wary. He was older than most performers they had seen and he was visibily nervous. One of the hosts called Pugh "the most nervous contestant we've ever had" and when Judge Simon Cowell asked him if he'd ever performed in front of a large audience, he nervously said "I suffer from stage fright. It cripples me really. I've come here today to see if I can get through three minutes."
Amazingly enough, Pugh did get through the song and he chose the perfect one, too. His performance of "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables touched the hearts of the audience, judges, and viewers at home. Pugh told the cameras, "'Bring Him Home' comes from my heart. It’s about what I might have lost through choices I’ve made." The way he finally found the confidence is so inspiring. What a performance!
