Each year, about 1.2 million children are taken into sex trafficking around the world — an increasing problem that is troubling for governments. Among them are also the often forgotten victims: young boys.
While girls are the most common sufferers within the United States and globally, boys account for about 400,000 of those taken.
BlackBox International is a “faith-based, Christ-centered” organization established in 2010 aiming to “holistically rehabilitate sex-trafficked boys age 16 and under.”
Kasey Hendrix, a young girl from a small town in Missouri, has also stepped in to make a difference after learning about the organization through her uncle, who is on the board.
“When I heard about young boys being sold into sex trafficking, it was sickening. It hurt me,” she said. “Because you hear girls all the time but you don’t hear about the boys and it’s something you don’t think about.”
The teen decided to start raising money at her high school. At first, she had a slow start but then was able to raise $1,100. But she didn’t stop there — watch what she does at the 2:08 mark.
“I believe that God gives you talents that you have and you can use them,” she said. “I had an idea and I was like I want to help people.”
