Widow Kelly Rizzo Remembers Husband Bob Saget On The One-Year Anniversary Of His Death

Grief is not a linear process. One day you can be doing great, and the next it knocks you down at the smallest remembrance. The first holidays and events after a loved one’s passing can be especially tricky.

Kelly Rizzo, wife of the beloved late comedian Bob Saget, took to Instagram to pay tribute to him on the one-year anniversary of his death. Kelly clearly loved Bob very much and is bravely facing life without him, no matter how hard it is.

"One Year. Our hearts are so heavy. How could I not have talked to or seen my loving husband in a whole year," Kelly began her post, which was set to the song "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds.

"The surreal-ness never subsides. I've accepted the reality long ago but it still seems unreal when I see photos or videos of him so full of life. But there is one thing I carry with me every single day that makes this survivable," Kelly continued.

"I AM THE LUCKIEST. I am the luckiest that I got to be his wife. I am the luckiest that I got to live with his warmth, and laughter, and brilliance, and love. I am the luckiest that I get to have his girls by my side. I am the luckiest that I got to watch him first hand help people, make them happy, and make the world a better place," Kelly gushed.

"Some people can live 1,000 lifetimes and never live a life as fully as he did. And to that I have to say, Well Done. You really won life, honey. And that is why I will be forever grateful for him and all the endless love he gave me, until my last day,” Kelly concluded.

Bob Saget was best known for his stand-up comedy and his role as Danny Tanner in the family comedy Full House. He also hosted America's Funniest Home Videos. He and Kelly married in 2018 after dating for three years.

Bob’s death was sudden and unexpected. His body was found in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton in Orlando. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head from a fall. He was 65 years old.

Kelly was not the only person to remember Bob on the anniversary of his death. His former Full House costars also posted loving tributes to him. Candace Cameron Bure and Dave Coulier both took to Instagram to remember Bob.

Playing Bob’s onscreen daughter D.J. Tanner left a lasting impression on Candace. “I stayed up for hours watching videos of Bob on my phone. Videos I couldn’t watch a year ago because it hurt too much. Last night they made me laugh . They comforted me and warmed my heart. I watched them over and over and laughed so hard. I miss him so much and I’m grateful he was my friend for so many years. I love you, Bob❤️ now go hug a friend like Bob would,” she wrote.

Dave Coulier played Bob’s good friend Joey on the series. This friendship was not merely fictional but also in real life.

“Bob could always bring out the 5th grader in me. I met him when I was just an unknown, 18 year-old standup at a small club in Detroit. We became instant brothers. Sometimes, I still grab my phone, ready to share one of the hundreds of silly bits that we did together. At some point today, I’ll think about how much I miss him and I’ll shed some tears. Then I’ll hear Bob’s voice, and it’ll make me laugh. Enjoy the gifts of life while they’re still here with you. Tell those you love that you love them…and hug them like Bob Saget. #huglikebobsaget,” Dave wrote.

Bob is clearly missed by his widow and friends. It is evident in their moving tributes to the man whom they loved. For 65 years, Bob worked to make the world a brighter and funnier place, and that is his lasting legacy.
