The wedding of Princess Diana's niece, Kitty Spencer, was many things. It was lavish, romantic, and one of a kind. It was not, however, a royally attended event.
Kitty, a 30-year-old model, married millionaire fashion mogul Michael Lewis, who is five years older than her father at 62 years old, in front of family and friends at Villa Aldo Brandini in Frascati, Italy. However, some members of the family were more glaringly missing than others.
Neither Prince Harry nor Prince William attended the nuptials, despite Kitty being present for both of her cousins' weddings. Also absent from the action was Kitty's father, Diana's beloved brother Charles Spencer. It's unclear why he wasn't at the nuptials, though many believe it may be because of a recent shoulder injury that has limited his mobility.
Kitty's brothers Louis Spencer and Samuel Aitken walked her down the aisle. Twin sisters Eliza and Amelia were also in attendance.
A brand ambassador for Dolce & Gabbana, Kitty wore a beautiful gown by the fashion house for the occasion. It was Victorian-inspired with a tight bodice, oversized shoulders, and a high neck.
Kitty and Michael are private about their relationship. The news of their engagement broke in January 2020.
"I just think, 'Really, what's that got to do with anyone else?' It shouldn't make a difference to anyone's day. Who I love or don't love, or have a crush on or don't have a crush on, or go on a date with, I don't know why that should be what somebody reads over their cornflakes," she shared.
"As long as I keep it sacred, then it can remain so. As soon as I don't, I don't think you can get it back."
