An ordinary man became a hero when he noticed a pelican had fishing wire wrapped around his beak and stepped in to help.
In the video, the man sees the pelican is in need. He slowly sneaks up on the bird, who is perched on the pier, and grabs him before he flies away. The harrowing rescue was all caught on camera and is pretty crazy to witness.
At points, the man is forced to pin the pelican down, so it doesn't fly away. Enlisting the help of a friend, they team together to help remove the fishing wire from the pelican's mouth.
It's important to remember that fishing lines and hooks can cause major injuries to pelicans and other wildlife. When pelicans get entangled with fishing line, specifically around their beaks, they're unable to eat and can starve to death.
