An unsuspecting YouTube user Ron Holan found a hanger-on during a recent ski trip and captured the event on his phone. A little bird had flown into his car's windshield and he says he assumed the animal had either flown away or had died. But not so, for this little critter.
"While driving over the mountains in Norway I saw a bird passing over my front window and assumed it got killed," he writes in the video's description. "After some 5-6km I stopped to take a photo of snow in June and when I got back I heard a scratching noise comming [sic] from my roof. I got out and found this bird wedged in between the roof and ski box." He adds that the outside temperature was about 2-3 °C (around 35 °F) with windchill, which is just above freezing.
Holan quickly grabbed a piece of cardboard and began lightly pushing the bird toward a wider space, where he was able to help it out. Appearing unable to fly, he cradled the bird into a warm space in his car where it was able to warm up. After a while resting, the little guy was back on his feet and ready to fly.
This good Samaritan certainly did a great thing, but if you ever experience a collision with wildlife, contact your local wildlife rescue or non-emergency dispatcher.
