Foster Kid Never Got To Sing For His Birth Mom, Then Judge Calls Her Up To The Stage

Life was not always easy for a man named Lascel Woods. At the age of four, Lascel was placed into foster care because of his mother's struggle with bipolar disease.

Lascel grew up feeling lost without his mother to depend on. "It wasn't her fault, it was down to her having this illness that she couldn't help," he says.

The only thing he took solace in was music.

Lascel has since left foster care and strengthened the bond he shares with his mother.

In 2011, when he went to audition on The X Factor at the age of 20, his mom came out to support him and hear him sing for the very first time. That's right — though they'd become close, Lascel's mom had never seen him perform before, until this incredible televised moment.

Lascel revealed the most beautiful voice while performing his unique rendition of "Use Somebody" by rock band Kings of Leon. The second she hears her son sing, Mom breaks down in tears from backstage.

What a touching moment when he and his mother stand on stage together. She couldn't be prouder.
