And that's exactly what one young mom did when she got the scare of her life: doctors told her that she might not wake up from a simple and small operation because of the extra pounds she was carrying.
Hannah Straughan, 25, weighed about 271 pounds. She says this was because her now ex-partner was a delivery driver who brought home unhealthy food all the time. With her regular breakfasts of fast food, the pounds piled on until she reached a critical point.
One day last year, Hannah was rushed to the hospital because she couldn't breathe. Her tonsils were swollen and required an operation, but doctors said her weight made the usually safe procedure a risky one.
Luckily, Hannah survived — but the warning was the wake-up call she needed.

She was admitted to the ER with breathing problems last year and was told that she needed a tonsil operation. But she was warned: because of the extra pounds on her 5'3 frame, she might not wake up from it.

Luckily, she did wake up. Afterward, she vowed to lose weight for the sake of her health and her daughter.

New eating habits and exercise helped her knock off the pounds. In fact, she successfully halved her weight!

A strict diet plan helped her get the body she always wanted. A sample menu would consist of bran with yogurt and fruit for breakfast, couscous and vegetables or chicken salad for lunch, and homemade lasagna or curry for dinner.

Her new lifestyle has given her so much confidence that she was able to find a job! Now, she can even play with her young daughter and do all the activities she wants to do with her!
