Have you ever seen a store with special parking just for mothers with small children?
I've only ever seen this a few times myself, but there are some stores that have parking spots designated for expecting mothers or parents with small children.
Similar to handicapped parking, these spots are closer to the front of the parking lot and make shopping easier for parents who are multitasking or pushing a large, heavy stroller.
I'm actually surprised by how rare these signs are! I'm not a mother, but I can imagine how helpful this would be.
Canadian grocery store Sobeys has these special signs at their stores, but one dad noticed something a little off with the signs at his local shop.
Keep reading to learn just what this dad noticed on the signs at his local grocery store — and how the store responded.

This is Justin Simard. He is a husband and a new dad who lives in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Justin is a dedicated dad who spends a lot of time taking care of his 9-month-old son.

While grocery shopping, Justin noticed something a little off about the parking spots for parents: they were technically only for mothers. Justin told HuffPost that he took the spot because he had his 9-month-old with him, but that "the person in the spot next to me gave me a dirty look, which quickly vanished when I took my son out of his car seat."
Justin then tweeted a picture of the sign to the grocery store, asking: "am I allowed to park here? #notababysitter #dadissues"

Justin's question took off pretty quickly on Twitter. Some people agreed with Justin, saying that all parents with small children should be allowed parking privileges. Others disagreed, saying those spots are really for pregnant mothers who have may have a harder time walking a long distance in the parking lot.

Plenty of moms and dads agreed with Justin. As this mom points out, being inclusive in parenting is helpful to everyone involved: dads, moms, and children.

And Sobeys, the store Justin was shopping at when he noticed the sign, agreed with the new dad. They replied to his tweet with news that they would change the sign to be more inclusive.

Within the week Sobeys updated the sign. Now, it specifies that parking is for expecting mothers and all customers with small children.

The next time they went grocery shopping, Justin and his son snapped a quick photo with the new sign. It looks like the baby appreciates it just as much as his dad.
What do you think? Should dads with small children get special parking, or is this kind of thing reserved for pregnant women?
