For countless millennia, humanity has been drawn toward the artistic pursuit to capture what it actually means to be human.
Even before the inception of the camera, artists have struggled to put paint to canvas in order to capture the meaning behind the glint in someone's eye. Or even further still, the wall paintings in the caves of Chauvet show that for at least 30,000 years humankind has wanted to tell the world, "Hello, I was here once, too! Here I was!"
Humans want to show that their lives were filled with excitement, like the daring group of young folks who went on a selfie adventure all around the world. Or the beautifully catalogued life of this one lonely girl who, for years now, has taken a selfie every single day in order to combat her deep-seeded depression.
Even though taking a selfie from the cockpit of a plane traveling in excess of 500 mph is absolutely impossible, the idea remains the same. That man in that poorly photoshopped picture was here, and he wants you to know it!
