Warren Beatty & Faye Dunaway Announce Best Picture At Oscars, But They Got The Wrong Card

Well, the end of the 2017 Oscars got a little awkward very fast!

The ceremony concluded as it always does, with the Best Picture being announced as the final Academy Award. For the 2017 season, it seemed that the winner was a shoe-in, but that wasn't so.

The nominees for Best Picture were Moonlight, Lion, La La Land, Fences, Manchester by the Sea, Hacksaw Ridge, Hidden Figures, Hell or High Water, and Arrival. Everyone thought La La Land would win, and that is what was announced!

Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, stars of the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, were the final presenters of the night. The pair announced Best Picture, but there was a clear moment that Warren was very confused after first reading the card.

Faye seemed playfully frustrated with her friend for his confusion. Warren handed her the card, and she then said La La Land was the winner!

The whole cast and crew got on stage to accept the huge award, with many speeches going on. Halfway through their speeches, though, it was clear that something was amiss, especially when a man with an earpiece started searching through the cards.

Apparently, Warren and Faye were given a card that said Emma Stone, La La Land — but that was for Best Actress, which she had just won. The true winner of the Oscar was Moonlight!

The folks of La La Land were very gracious to pass on the award to the true winners, and that was a TV moment that will certainly go down in history! There certainly will be a few Steve Harvey jokes that go back to his mixup at the Miss Universe show in 2016.
