Steve Aliotto was devastated when he returned to his houseboat in Richardson Bay, California, after a massive storm hit the coast.
All that was left of his home was the boat's mast coming out of the sea and he assumed that his beloved best friend, Daisy the Pit Bull, had gone down with the rest of his belongings. However, in an unbelievable twist of fate, their story was far from over.
Remembering the swimming lessons Daisy's owner had given her, the courageous Pit Bull escaped through the boat's hatch and swam one mile in the dark night until she reached the shore. If that isn't impressive enough, what Daisy did next is truly incredible. The smart dog somehow made her way to the Sausalito Presbyterian Church, where Aliotto would sometimes bring her for free meals. There, Reverend Paul Mowry found Daisy freezing and wet and made it his mission to find the lost dog's owner.
However, now that Aliotto was homeless, he was impossible to track down. Rev. Mowry took his chances at another church that serves free meals and sure enough there he, or should I say Daisy, found Aliotto. Their reunion was a true miracle, just in time for the holidays.
Their story just goes to show how loyal dogs are to their loving owners. They may have lost their home, but all that proved to matter is that they have each other!
