Princess Diana’s Sons Unveil Statue In Her Honor In Sunken Gardens At Kensington Palace

On July 1, Prince William and Prince Harry came together to unveil a statue of Princess Diana. The statue was unveiled on what would have been been Diana's 60th birthday.

Things went well at the private, intimate unveiling, which featured a few family members, limited press, and sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. Then on Friday, the statue was opened for public viewing.

There was a surprisingly mixed reaction to the statue by the public. While many felt it was a stunning, heartwarming depiction of Diana in her element, with children, others felt it didn't quite look like the late Princess of Wales.

Some critics simply don't think the statue resembles Diana. "I think the statue of princess Diana doesn't do her justice. I don't think it captures her at all," one person tweeted.

"Doesn’t look like her but 'It was based on the final period of her life in her role as an ambassador for humanitarian causes and aims to convey her character and compassion, Kensington Palace said,'" another fan added.

Others feel the statue doesn't convey Diana's spirit. "Well I think that statue of Princess Diana is bloody awful. Looks like something from wartime, dark and depressing, not at all depicting the vibrancy and beauty of a stunning lady," another fan tweeted.
