There's been another concerning admission about Queen Elizabeth's health.
The last few weeks have seen a number of headlines regarding the 95-year-old monarch's health. She has been seen using a cane to get around. She has been advised to stop drinking. She's even taken a turn from her rigid normal by canceling a trip to Northern Ireland at the advice of her medical team.
Now it's been revealed that the Queen spent a night in the hospital. In a statement issued on October 21, Buckingham Palace revealed the Queen spent Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon at the hospital before returning to Windsor Castle.
There is no denying that Queen Elizabeth has had a rough year. Her life was turned upside down by COVID grinding her schedule to a complete halt. She lost her husband of 74 years. That's not to mention all of the drama going on in her family, which surely affects her regardless of how directly or indirectly she may be involved.
As summer 2021 has turned to fall, there's been notice of some changes with the Queen. She took an extended summer holiday, which many believed was tied to her mourning the loss of Prince Philip. Since coming back, news has hit that the Queen has been asked to give up her daily cocktails.
During a recent appearance, she was seen using a cane. While she hasn't used it consistently, its appearance did raise some eyebrows and began raising questions about the monarch's health.
This week, we learned that the Queen canceled her planned trip to Northern Ireland to celebrate its 100th anniversary. Her doctors advised her not to travel, which she reluctantly complied with.
On Thursday, Buckingham Palace revealed the Queen's hospital stay in a statement.
"Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today and remains in good spirits," the statement read.
The hospital visit was out of an abundance of caution, the palace claimed. The Queen returned to her desk on Thursday afternoon, undertaking light duties.
This is the second statement regarding the Queen's health, the first being the trip cancellation announcement earlier in the week.
"The Queen has reluctantly accepted medical advice to rest for the next few days," a statement Wednesday read.
"Her Majesty is in good spirits and is disappointed that she will no longer be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she had been due to undertake a series of engagements today and tomorrow."
The Queen last made a public appearance on October 19. Alongside other members of the royal family, including Prince Charles and Prince William, she welcomed international business and investment leaders at the castle for a Global Investment Summit reception.
