People often wonder what life would be like growing up with the world knowing who your parents are. If you think about the kids of famous individuals, they are already in tabloids from the moment they are introduced to the world. Going on a normal outing with their parents usually results in cameras flashing in their faces the whole time and being heckled by random people.
We finally got some insight from Susan Sarandon and Franco Amurri's daughter, Eva Amurri, 37, about what it was like growing up with well-known parents.
In a TikTok that she shared, Eva responded to somebody's comment that asked her if she had grown up with other kids of famous parents. Her response was, “Yes, I did grow up with a lot of other kids of celebrities, there’s a certain common thread that you feel with other people that grow up in this strange world.”
Kids who have grown up with famous parents are labeled “nepo babies,” and Eva said that she interacted with other nepo babies when her parents were working. She explained that any time her parents did a movie or TV show, other kids of the other actors and directors would be there.
Eva said, “People in the industry who grow up in the industry sometimes liken the experience to like growing up in the circus.” As many relationships go, Eva said that many of the friendships that she and her family made along the way didn’t last. This was simply because of losing contact and not being able to see or talk as much.
She said, “One of the things that’s really disorienting about the acting world is that, when the project is done, a lot of times everyone goes their separate ways and you kind of just disappear back into real life. It can be sad sometimes.” Even though there were sad moments, Eva does reassure her viewers that there were a lot of great moments from her childhood with the people whom she and her family became really close to.
