It was a good day for both employees and customers of TD Bank. Four branches in Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary transformed a few of their ATMs into "Automated Thanking Machines," and the bank distributed a $20 thank-you gift to 30,000 customers. But a few more were in store for much bigger surprises.
Each machine greeted unsuspecting customers with meaningful and individualized thank-you experiences — and the amazing, unforgettable reactions were all caught on camera!
Then, the bank employees pre-selected more than a dozen regular customers at their local branches who stood out as deserving of special recognition. When the individuals approached the ATM, it started speaking to them and even knew their names!
While some customers got bonus cash, another mom was surprised with college money for her two sons and a trip to Disneyland.
"I've never been able to take my kids anywhere," she said, holding back tears.
But perhaps the most touching moment of all came when a woman named Dorothy was given tickets to Trinidad to visit her daughter who has cancer and is recovering from surgery.
"A thank you can change someone’s day, so that's why we have been surprising our customers across Canada, to say 'TD Thanks You,'" said Tim Hockey, President and CEO, TD Canada Trust said in a press release. "We know Canadians have a lot of choice when it comes to where they bank, and we wanted to say that we appreciate that they continue to choose TD."
It is incredible what a simple thank you can do to brighten another person's day. You may want to grab the tissues for this one!
