Teen Sends Polite Text To Friend’s Mom About Why He Should Be Allowed At All-Girls Sleepover

A very important part of being a girl is going to your first sleepover. It's a rite of passage just about as crucial as getting your ears pierced, or getting your period. The best part? Sleepovers don't usually involve blood.

As you get older, sleepovers become more regular and important. The thought of going to your best friend's house without staying the night can seem simply unheard of.

Sleepover parties can eventually become the center of your universe. The more the merrier right? It always was the bravest parents who would host a whole gaggle of girls.

Even into their teens, sleepover parties are still something that plenty of girls do and enjoy. But what if a boy asked if he could tag along?

That's exactly what happened to one mom when her daughter's friend, Mason, texted her asking if it was OK for him to come along… since he wasn't interested in girls.

High school student Mason Barclay wasn't going to be included in his friends all girls sleepover because he was a boy.

However, because Mason is gay, he thought maybe his friend Houston's mom could make an exception. He shared his attempt on Twitter.

The text reads:

Hey Mrs Shelton ! This is Mason Brian Barclay, I am one of Houstons new bestfriends. If she had people over Friday, would I, a very homosexual male, be able to take part in the sleepover.

I think the common meaning behind only allowing the same sex to share sleepovers is due to the typical interest in the opposite sex, when in this case, I do not like the opposite sex. Thank you for your time and consideration, have a great night. Amen.

You could understand that Houston's mom might not want boys in the house, but Mason certainly makes a good point.

Fortunately, Houston's mom also seems to have a sterling sense of humor.

She responds, "Hmm. Well, my husband is hot. Should I worry?"

Clearly the joke was well received by Mason, who responded enthusiastically, "HAHAHAHAHAHA"

Sometimes making jokes can be tricky over text, but these two seem to have it all figured out.

Most sleepovers have an unwritten no boys allowed rule. This could be for a lot of reasons, but it all probably comes down to what Mason said.

If the sleepover guests aren't physically attracted to each other and you don't have to worry about any funny business, then what's the harm?

The truth is, most girls don't have a male friend who wants to come to their sleepovers. So, this is a bridge that many parents haven't crossed.

For Houston's mom, the no-boys rule has probably never required a review, but I'm sure she'll carefully think it through in this case.

Something tells me it's all going to be okay.

Do you think boys should be allowed at girls sleepovers given the circumstances?
