9 Of The Strangest Things Kids Have Swallowed And Lived To Tell The Tale

Kids can do some pretty strange things on their journey through life. It's almost always good for kids to experiment and explore the world, as hands-on learning is the best way to discover.

However, with trial comes error, and sometimes those little experiments that kids do behind our backs end up landing them in the emergency room.

The first thing to do when child-proofing a home is get rid of all things small enough to be swallowed, because toddlers and babies are so likely to stick all kinds of objects in their mouths.

It's hard to believe that kids were able to swallow the following nine items, but it's even more impressive that they all left the emergency room or operating table without any long-term damage.

Has your kid or grandkid ever swallowed anything that gave you a scare? I can only imagine the disbelief and horror when these parents realized what happened to their kids.

At first the 7-month-old baby's parents thought she just had a swollen gland, but they soon found out that she had either swallowed or inhaled a feather when it poked through her face. She didn't need surgery. The doctors pulled it out, and she made a full recovery.

A 7-year-old boy was making a strange squeaky noise when he spoke. At first doctors wrote it off as a psychological issue until they did an endoscopy and found the squeaky whistle part of a rubber duck toy that he'd swallowed earlier that summer. He made a full recovery after its removal.

While a family was decorating for Halloween, they realized that nine of the two-inch gel letters had disappeared. Poison control wasn't too worried, and told the family to monitor the child for strange behavior. She passed the stickers on her own with no harm.

The six-inch pen was half the length of the toddler's little torso, but doctors were able to remove it without any complications. It may quite possibly be the longest object to ever be swallowed by a child.

These are all so terrifying, I can't imagine what these parents went through. Please SHARE with your family and friends on Facebook.
