Legendary Soul Singer And Icon Tina Turner Dies At Age 83

Legendary singer and icon Tina Turner has passed away at the age of 83. Tina died after a lengthy battle against an unspecified illness. She died in her home in Switzerland.

The news was confirmed by Tina's UK spokesperson, Bernard Doherty, who said, "With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model."

Tina, who was born Anna Mae Bullock in November 1939, grew up in Tennessee. She became famous in the 1960s alongside then-husband Ike Turner, with whom she performed. Tina famously left Ike after enduring years of abuse.

Tina enjoyed a second wave of career success in the 1980s on her own, and her hit songs include "What's Love Got to Do With It" and "Private Dancer." She won 12 Grammy awards throughout her career.
