Kids have an endless amount of gadgets, apps, and other toys to occupy and entertain them these days, but there are some classics that just never go away. The key seems to be keeping it simple, like watching a Slinky make its way down the stairs or believing a Magic 8 Ball can really predict your future.
Father-and-son duo Daniel and Lincoln decided to look into what exactly makes that second item so timeless and fascinating. The method? Busting it open and checking out what's inside, of course! Together, they've spent the last few years investigating the inner workings of tons of items, starting with Lincoln's second-grade science project inspiring them to open up sports balls. From there, they went on to tackle more interesting items like a giant rubber band ball and, most recently, a 100 percent real rattlesnake tail.
While it's always awesome to see their results, it's even more heartwarming to watch the bond between these two as they explore the world side-by-side. Daniel always makes sure to handle to the more dangerous aspects of dismantling their items, but it's Lincoln's reaction as he learns something new that really makes these moments so special. And more often than not, I learn something new while watching, too!
For instance, I was totally expecting a giant blue mess as soon as they cracked this toy open. Instead, they found a 20-sided die and blue-colored alcohol safely inside a rectangular cartridge. Obviously, the adventurous duo didn't stop there.
