Sometimes when we see a kid misbehaving in public we judge. We might blame the parents, or assume that the child is a rebel against his parents.
But that is definitely not always the case. Even if it were, passing judgment is pointless. There are so many factors to a child's behavior and a parent's way of dealing with that behavior that are unseen, and also it's none of our business as outsiders to their family.
Instead, more people should pass around kindness.
Cynthia Tipton was lucky enough to experience that kindness when all she was expecting was judgment.
Tipton's son Nolan has autism. With autism, sometimes you can have outbursts that you can't control. And that's what happened when Nolan and Cynthia were out to dinner.
Nolan started screaming and crying in the restaurant and had a bit of a meltdown. He eventually calmed down and Cynthia didn't make anything of it.
But, when she asked for the bill she found out that someone else wanted to mention something about it to her. Instead of a nasty message from an unhappy fellow diner, she got a message of compassion from a stranger who most likely understood her position.
