The Swifties are coming for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, even if he is the quintessential girl dad. He’s Maui, after all, a la Moana. But when he allegedly liked an Instagram video in which a user bashed Taylor Swift for her singing and dancing abilities, the former WWE superstar showed another side of himself. And it’s a side that some Taylor fans weren’t ready to see.
According to Buzzfeed, Dwayne liked the video on Instagram from his account called TheRock, named after his WWE alter ego, of course. That account does seem to be Dwayne’s main TikTok that he uses to interact with fans and, apparently, random videos that have nothing to do with him. But users across other social media platforms had a lot to say about the reported snub.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson might not be a Swiftie after all.
In a video posted on Instagram, one of the many anti-Swiftie people out there shared her thoughts on the singer. She went in hard on what she thinks of TayTay’s singing, dancing, and songwriting. In the caption, she wrote, “She’s not a good singer. She’s not a good dancer. She’s not a good songwriter. So what is she? If not a carefully crafted fake?”
She shows examples of other female singers “who can actually sing,” like Billie Holiday, Whitney Houston, and Amy Winehouse. And, while some users commented to share a similar distaste for Taylor, the thing that stood out to others was that, apparently, The Rock himself liked the video. Does that mean there’s bad blood between the two celebrities?
That’s hard to imagine, especially because it’s also hard to see actual beef between Dwayne, a dad of three daughters, and Taylor, a woman who is technically young enough to be his daughter. On Reddit, users discussed the apparent shade, evidenced only by a few screenshots floating around the internet that shows his account under the video’s ‘likes’ on Instagram.
“I am pretty sure The Rock doesn’t care about the Swifties,” one person commented on the thread.
Another added, “Oh no, The Rock doesn’t care for Taylor Swift? Somebody better gather the villagers and the pitchforks to get him. Taylor Swift sucks.” Well, then.
Taylor Swift and Dwayne Johnson have worked together before.

A celebrity potentially liking a post that throws shade at another wildly successful and wealthy A-lister is dramatic enough. But Dwayne and Taylor did actually work together. He appeared in her music video for ‘The Man’ as the voice of one of the characters. He also performed one of her songs on Lip Sync Battle in 2015.
Around the same time, Dwayne posted on X (formerly Twitter) about performing a duet with Taylor.
“Congrats my friend!” Dwayne tweeted at the time. “My pleasure to voice THE MAN.
What a transformation and more importantly, great message about women’s equality and the importance of straight up being kind and good to people. Next we sing our duet. You bring the guitar, I’ll bring the tequila.”
People joked how Taylor Swift might write a song about it.
In another Reddit post about Dwayne’s apparent snub, people joked about Taylor using the experience to write song lyrics for a future album. I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time she used someone else’s hate towards her to write a track on a Grammy-winning album. Some users commented actual lyrics, though, full of the kind of sarcasm that only Taylor haters can conjure up.
One user’s faux song lyrics were:
“He says I’m a fake who can’t dance, write, or sing,
Just a manufactured doll in a sparkly ring, uh-huh,
But he’s just a bully who likes to talk spit,
And honestly? He’s just a massive piece of, gasp!!!”
Others commented to say that Taylor will use a few humble brags about her marriage mixed in with shade thrown at Dwayne.
