Scott Disick has been focusing on family and his health in recent weeks. The 37-year-old made headlines in early May when he entered rehab to seek treatment for emotional issues. Early reports that indicated Scott was struggling with alcohol and cocaine were later refuted.
Scott's rehab stint didn't last long. After he learned a photo of him at the facility had been leaked, he left, citing his HIPAA rights were violated. Reports have indicated that Scott is seeking outpatient treatment.
Aside from treatment, Scott has been spending a lot of time with ex Kourtney Kardashian and their three children, Mason, Penelope, and Reign. This has been intriguing for a lot of Kardashian fans holding a flame for a Kourtney-Scott reconciliation. While Kourtney's current relationship status is a bit of a mystery, Scott's is less so.
Nearly two weeks ago, reports surfaced indicating Scott and his girlfriend of two years, 21-year-old Sofia Richie, are, at a minimum, on a break. Some outlets have claimed the pair have split up for good. Fans may get their hopes up, but sources close to Scott insist his focus right now is on himself and his kids.
Scott Disick wants to be better for his kids. The 37-year-old was the subject of headlines last month when reports indicated he had checked himself into rehab.
"Scott entered a treatment facility last week," a source told People magazine at the time.
"He knew he was spiraling out of control and wanted to get help. He wants to be the best dad possible. Sofia [Richie] and Kourtney [Kardashian] both encouraged him to get help."
Initial reports suggested Scott was getting treatment for alcohol and cocaine abuse. Later, attorney Marty Singer set the record straight.
"In an effort to finally come to terms and deal with the pain that Scott has been silently suffering for many years due to the sudden death of his mother, followed by the death of his father 3 months later, Scott made the decision to check himself into a rehab facility last week to work on his past traumas. He did not check-in for any alcohol or cocaine abuse," Marty told People.
Scott's stay in rehab was short-lived. Once the reality star learned that a photo of him at the facility had been leaked, he checked out.
"Shockingly as a result of the [HIPAA] violation of the facility and his violation of privacy, he has checked himself out and is immediately returning home," his attorney confirmed.
"We are alarmed by this extreme invasion of privacy and plan to take immediate legal action."
Initial reports indicated that Scott's girlfriend of two years, Sofia Richie, was helping him through this difficult time. However, just before Scott's birthday, sources confirmed the two were taking a break.
"They're taking a break right now, so Scott can just focus on the most important things in his life — his health and his kids," one source noted to People magazine.
"Scott is working on his issues. Sofia is hanging out with friends. It was Sofia's choice to take a break."
Scott spent his 37th birthday in Utah with Kourtney and the kids. In the wake of the split, fans speculated what it might mean for Kourtney and Scott to be spending so much time together with their three kids. Sources close to the two insist that they're trying to keep Scott in a good place and that his time with Kourtney shouldn't be read into.
"He needs to be safe and secure," one source explained.
"He's looking into his next steps. He's talking to a lot of people who can give him psychological, emotional, physical, and spiritual health," the source continued. "He knows he needs all four."
The Kardashians are a big part of Scott's support system. "The entire Kardashian family is in his corner, and wants him to get things turned around. He's got a support system, no matter what."
Scott and Kourtney were spotted taking their kids to lunch together this weekend at Nobu in Malibu. He seemed like he was in a more positive place.
"Scott is still receiving treatment and working on [his] issues," a source confirmed to People.
For Scott, maintaining good relationships with his kid is a major part of getting better.
"He has been around the kids a lot. He is only spending time with people who can support him and help him be the best possible," the source continued.
It may seem out of the ordinary for the exes to spend so much time together, but another source explained to Daily Mail that Kourtney is a comforting presence to Scott.
"Scott is so happy that he and Kourtney get along so well and how easy it is with her," the source noted. "It's weird to everyone else, but not to them. They are really like best friends."
Their close friendship has benefited those closest to them — their three kids. Kourtney and Scott shared a conversation about their co-parenting journey last spring on Poosh.
"It's not like the easiest thing for us, but the fact that we've tried and we made it work makes life that much better," Scott said in the conversation.
"I mean, I couldn't imagine raising three children with somebody that I couldn't speak to every day."
"Yeah. I do not get how people do that. That to me seems way harder," Kourtney replied.
"It's not harder, it's just different. And it just sucks because you can't be on any kind of the same page," Scott noted.
"Then the kids are just bounced around into completely different things. I mean, I know other people who are in relationships that you know were, don't talk to the person, and there's so many things they are confused about."
"No, I do think we are very lucky to be doing it this way, and we can, if we have an issue or something that, you know, one of the kids is going through, we can deal with it together," Kourtney replied.
"And, you know, nobody knows our kids better than us, so to be able to do that together and like come up with solutions together, I think is, you know, there's no better … like what else could you want?"
