Couple Amy Robach And T.J. Holmes Officially Exit From ‘GMA3’: ‘It’s Best For Everyone’

It’s been the question in the back of every actively online person’s mind for months: What is going to happen to Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes?

The Good Morning America hosts were taken off air on December 5 after rumors of their relationship circulated — alongside many photos — all over the internet. But an official decision has finally been made: The pair will not be coming back.

A source close to the couple told People last year that they were "devastated" and "can't believe this is happening to them."

A spokesperson for ABC News announced on Friday that the network has decided to part ways from the anchors.

“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, about different options, we all agreed it’s best for everyone that they move on from ABC News,” the spokesperson said, per The Hollywood Reporter. "We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions.”

Despite word that they were devastated last year, the two were spotted snuggling together and holding hands on a sidewalk in Los Angeles this Friday amid the official news of their exit.

They were seen being very affectionate on their walk, hugging throughout, and at one point Amy jumped in T.J.’s arms and wrapped her legs around his waist.

The two were making a lot of headlines in November when their relationship was exposed through photos secretly taken of their various outings together. Both of the former Good Morning America hosts were married. They subsequently left their respective spouses.

The original decision to pull them off the air in December was a temporary fix until the network could perform an internal investigation into whether or not the relationship violated any of the company’s policies.

Kim Godwin, president of ABC News, told employees in December, “These decisions are not easy, they are not knee-jerk, but they are necessary for the brand and for our priority which, you guys know, are all of us — the people here at ABC.”

Gio Benitez and Stephanie Ramos have been hosting GMA3 since the show’s original hosts were suspended. News of who will be officially replacing them in the long run is still pending.

Amy and T.J. are both accomplished journalists who have worked with many networks in the field.

T.J. was an anchor with CNN, BET, and MSNBC before joining ABC, and Amy worked at both NBC News and MSNBC before joining the ABC News network.

There’s no news of what the journalists will do now with their newfound free time, but it seems safe to assume it will include spending time together.
