Elderly Woman Lives In Dilapidated Home Until Kind Neighbor Steps In And Changes Her Life

Oftentimes, you simply cannot know how your act of kindness may forever change the course of someone’s life.

Ninety-three-year-old Pearl Graham was known as the “Tulip Lady” in her community of Wheatland, California, due to the breathtaking tulips she grew in her garden every spring. Unfortunately, certain circumstances arose that made it impossible for her to continue her beloved hobby.

Due to a harsh winter season, Pearl’s home was growing more and more dilapidated. Her roof had several holes in it, the walls were crumbling, and her home was growing increasingly cold. Pearl was now in a wheelchair, and she had no way of fixing any of these huge structural problems on her own.

According to KCRA3, a woman named Kelly Zimmerman was walking by one day with a friend when she noticed the dire state of Pearl’s home. Once she got inside, Kelly knew she needed to act quickly in order to get Pearl to a safe and warm place to stay while they figured out what to do about her damaged house.

Kelly and her fellow community members decided to take Pearl to a nearby hotel to give her some proper lodging as they worked to figure out long-term living accommodations.

KCRA3 reports that Kelly and a friend named Sharon Bradshaw were able to find a wheelchair-accessible and affordable apartment for Pearl through the help of the Americans With Disabilities Act.

Her new neighbors were so generous that they even helped deliver meals to Pearl to ensure she was getting properly fed each day.
