US Olympians Are Still Waiting To Receive Their Medals From The 2022 Beijing Olympics

The United States figure skating team finished second in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, but they still don't have the medals to show for it.

Three of the medalists, Alexa Knierim, Brandon Frazier, and Vincent Zhou, recently spoke with Today about it.

The Russian Olympic Committee finished first in team skating, but the team is currently under investigation due to one of its athletes testing positive for a banned substance. This means there's a chance the team will be disqualified.

Because the investigation is still ongoing and a decision has not been made yet, it's still possible that the US team will be awarded gold medals instead of silver.

The medal ceremony was canceled for the first time in the history of the Olympics.

"Somebody said the ceremony's not happening," Alexa said on the Today Show. "I thought it was a joke."

Vincent said there hasn't been much communication, and even the athletes haven't really been informed about what's going on now.

"It reflects poorly on the integrity of sport in the Olympics in general," he said.
