The Chrisley family is certainly no stranger to drama. Since the 2014 premiere of their hit USA network reality TV show, Chrisley Knows Best, they quickly rose to fame. A few years down the line, their lavish lifestyle completely took a turn when husband and wife, Todd and Julie Chrisley, reported to prison in January 2023 to serve time for bank fraud and tax evasion.
In this video posted by Entertainment Tonight, Savannah Chrisley, an actress and former beauty pageant queen, who also happens to be Todd and Julie Chrisley’s daughter, shares how her mother nearly didn't marry her father.
In a clip taken from her podcast, Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley, Savannah explains that her parents nearly didn’t walk down the aisle after her mom turned down several of Todd’s marriage proposals, even after the couple knew that Julie was pregnant with Savannah’s brother, Chase.
“She was like, 'I am not marrying you.' So, it’s like, he asked her … twice and she told him no,” Savannah explains.
In other clips, Savannah divulges that even though her mom was known as “the preacher’s daughter” in a small town in South Carolina, she didn’t want to marry Todd simply because she was pregnant.
Todd had previously been married and had two kids in what he called a relationship that was lacking in “true love,” so Julie was determined not to repeat his mistakes.

In an interview clip from 2021, ET shows Todd Chrisley claiming that when the couple first tied the knot, he would routinely remark to his wife how he hoped that he “would go first” because he didn’t want to live a day on earth without the love of his life by his side.
