Serena Williams And Alexis Ohanian Welcome A Second Baby Girl To The World

In September 2022, Serena Williams, arguably one of the best tennis players of all time, retired. It was time for her to focus on motherhood and other goals, she explained to the world. Serena and husband Alexis Ohanian are doing just that. On August 22, 2023, they announced via social media that they had welcomed their second baby girl.

The good news was first dropped on TikTok. Then it migrated over to Instagram. According to both posts, mom and baby girl Adira River Ohanian are doing well. Serena, Alexis, and big sister Olympia, are all over the moon.

Serena’s TikTok account broke the news with a sweet video. The former family of three sits at a table with “Beautiful” by Bazzi featuring Camila Cabello playing in the background. Serena then gets up and goes to get their newest addition to introduce to the world. The video ends with a series of Polaroid-style photos of the new party of four.

Alexis acted as the family’s PR person on Instagram. He posted a series of photos, including introducing almost 6-year-old Olympia to her little sister Adira. “Welcome, Adira River Ohanian," he gushed. “I'm grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama. Feeling grateful. @serenawilliams you've now given me another incomparable gift — you're the GMOAT. Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter I'll never forget the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her baby sister.”

Alexis spoke to People about how pumped Olympia was to be a big sister. "No one's more excited than her," he stated. "She's been wanting this. She's been praying and asking about this for quite some time, so she's very ready."

Alexis also feels more confident as a father this second time around. "We're not first-time parents anymore,” he explained. “I feel more confident about having a newborn, all of those things that I just had zero confidence about with Olympia because I’d never even been around babies at that point in my life.”

It appears as if Serena is getting exactly what she wanted when she retired. "I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me,” she stated in an essay published in Vogue. "I have to focus on being a mom, my spiritual goals and finally discovering a different, but just exciting Serena. These days, if I have to choose between building my tennis résumé and building my family, I choose the latter."
