Dana Carvey’s Son Dex Tragically Dies From Accidental Drug Overdose At Age 32

Dex Carvey, son of Dana Carvey, died of an "accidental drug overdose" on Wednesday, November 15, according to a statement Dana Carvey shared on Instagram. He was 32 years old. Like his father, who is best known for being on Saturday Night Live, Dex Carvey pursued comedy and worked in the entertainment industry.

For Dana Carvey's 2016 Netflix special, Dana Carvey: Straight White Male, 60, Dex did an opening set. In a statement, Dana described his son Dex as "extremely talented at so many things — music, art, film making, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately."

"It's not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life," Dana said in the statement. "And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend, Kaylee."

In the Instagram post, Dana also acknowledged how hard it is to battle with addiction, and shared a heartfelt message to anyone who might be struggling. "To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers," the statement said.
