Teen Murder Suspect Escapes Custody From Children’s Hospital In Philadelphia

Shane Pryor, 17, who had been in custody since 2020, escaped while getting treatment at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. Pryor is believed to have been involved in the fatal shooting of Tanya Harris on October 10, 2020, when he was 14 years old. Another teenager was also charged.

The Philadelphia Police Department shared a description of Pryor on X and warned that the "suspect [is] considered dangerous." Police say he is 5'7" and 180 lbs. He was last seen wearing blue sweatpants and a sweatshirt, according to police.

Pryor was at the hospital to receive treatment for a hand injury. Video evidence shows that he was able to run away on foot in the emergency room parking lot. Surveillance footage also shows Pryor asking to use an employee's phone after escaping, ABC reported.

While Pryor is still at large, police arrested Michael Diggs, 18, on January 26 after he allegedly helped Pryor escape. According to a statement shared by police, investigators "[gathered] information suggesting that Pryor had been picked up by an individual driving a cream-colored Ford."

Diggs was detained for questioning.
