Ayesha Curry Is Expecting Her 4th Child & Dislikes Her Pregnancy Being Labeled ‘Geriatric’

Ayesha Curry is already a mother of three adorable children whom she shares with husband Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry. She is no stranger to pregnancy and the ups and downs that come with creating new life. This time around though the doctor’s labeled her pregnancy “geriatric” and she took issue with it.

The author and actress believes there has to be a better way to communicate with women about their health without labeling them old. Ayesha had her first child when she was 22. This is her first time being pregnant in her 30s. She knows many women choose to delay pregnancy until later in life and they don’t need the added pressure of being called elderly. She opened up about this in a cover story for her magazine Sweet July.

Ayesha explains how her medical care has been handled this time around. "What's been really interesting has been my doctor's appointments," she revealed. "I'm in my 30s, and so there's all this paperwork referring to the experience as a 'geriatric pregnancy' and all the concerns that come along with that."

Ayesha believes that it is time for doctors to examine the language they use. It could use an update. "I think there's something that needs to be more nuanced when it comes to women, their age, and conversations around having children," she mused.

Thankfully, Ayesha has been here before but she knows that isn’t the norm for others. "Many women in their 30s and 40s are going through this for the first time, and being told you're 'old' feels alarming and wild. I think the narrative needs to be shifted a little bit,” she urged.
