Sharon Stone was a guest on Louis Theroux’s podcast on season two, episode eight. She had some hot tea to spill. She finally disclosed the name of the producer who urged her to have sex with Billy Baldwin, her Sliver costar. According to Sharon, Robert Evans thought she should take one for the team as it would improve Billy’s lackluster performance.
Sharon previously mentioned this encounter in her 2021 memoir The Beauty of Living Twice. At the time she chose not to name Robert. He died in 2019 at the age of 89.
Sharon recalled being asked to meet with Robert when she should have been on set filming. "He's running around his office in his sunglasses, explaining to me that he slept with Ava Gardner and I should sleep with Billy Baldwin, because if I slept with Billy Baldwin, Billy Baldwin's performance would get better," Sharon alleged. "And we needed Billy to get better in the movie, because that was the problem."
According to Sharon, Robert believed that her sleeping with Billy would solve everything. "If I could sleep with Billy, then we would have chemistry onscreen, and if I would just have sex with him then that would save the movie,” Sharon explained. Billy recalls things differently and has since spoken out to deny Sharon’s claims.

According to Sharon, Robert thought she was being unreasonable for not wanting to have sex with Billy. "And the real problem in the movie was me because I was so uptight, and so not like a real actress, who could just [expletive] him and get things back on track. And the real problem is that I was such a tight [expletive]," Sharon recalled.
Sharon was especially offended by Robert’s request because she didn’t want to cast Billy in the first place. She had a whole other list of actors she thought would be better for the part. Robert was the one who advocated for Billy.
Sharon discussed this experience in her memoir. "You guys insisted on this actor when he couldn't get one whole scene out in the test," she wrote. "Now you think if I [expletive] him, he will become a fine actor? Nobody's that good in bed. I felt they could have just hired a costar with talent, someone who could deliver a scene and remember his lines. It was my job to act and I said no."
Sharon also revealed in her memoir that Robert’s suggestion was not an isolated incident. Other producers made similar requests.
On the podcast she also stated that Michael Douglas was a true professional when she worked with him on Basic Instinct. "I didn't have to [expletive] Michael Douglas," she stated. "Michael could come to work and just know how to hit those marks and do that line, and rehearse and show up. Now all of a sudden I'm in the 'I have to [expletive] people' business."
Sharon also alleged that Billy did hit on her a couple times. She believes that the producers encouraged this behavior. She wasn’t having it.
