Chance the Rapper is officially getting divorced. After five years of marriage, he and his wife, Kirsten Corley, shared that they have "amicably" decided "to part ways." They shared a joint statement via their respective Instagram accounts on April 3, 2024. They got married in March 2019, though they met when Chance the Rapper, whose real name is Chancelor Johnathan Bennett, was 9 years old.
"After a period of separation, the two of us have arrived at the decision to part ways," they said in the statement.
"We came to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together," the statement continued. "God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters who we will continue to raise together."
They share daughters Kensli, 7, and Marli, 4. They added that they ask for "privacy and respect as [they] navigate this transition."
On July 4, 2018, Chance tweeted that he asked Kirsten to marry him and "she said yes." In 2019, he took to Twitter (now X) to share the story of how he met his wife.
In 2003, he went to his mom's office party. Attendees were told to prepare for a Destiny's Child performance. "From the back stepped out 3 young girls. Who were not Destiny's Child," Chance wrote.
